3: Using my blog in the classroom.

At first the thought of using a blog in the classroom just did not seem practical. However, once i really thought about it and looked into it the clearer it became. First off a blog is an effective way of communicating and it avoids social networking sites. Furthermore, it can be used to show parents what their children are doing in class. I can share my thoughts with the parents. Do I think the class is ready to move on? Should I take a day to review? And I thought about this craft, what do you think? All which parents can see what their child is doing and how the teacher is aiding the process. My blog can also be used as reminders about homework, and projects. I can leave links to different websites students or parents can access to add to the in class instruction. Lastly, having a blog in a classroom can allow me to see what other educators are doing, by viewing commentary on what other teachers are doing and what they suggest. Using a blog may not be so bad after all.

  1. These are great ideas and can most definitely be very effective in implementing technology into a classroom. Thank you for the wonderful ideas. Do you think that parents could also use it to communicate with you if they have a question or a request as well. Is there a way for things like that to be confidential? I think there is even a way to have a separate blog for students and parents. I am so glad we are getting the chance to practice this before actually using it in our classrooms because I know next to nothing about blogs. Thank you again for the great ideas.

  2. I completely agree about the blog being a great tool to communicate with parents. At first I also thought the blog was somewhat useless until I began to think of all the ways to really use it to my advantage. Parents would never feel "out of the loop" and other teachers could learn from the things you are doing in class as well. Great post!

  3. I think getting th parets involved is important and yes blogging does seem like a good way to do that, as long as he parents are interested. I find that some parents just do not want to be involved but blogging will hopefully be a way those parents can check in occasionally. I am sure other parents will love being able to see what their children are doing in school and communicate with the teacher. You have several good reasons why blogs can be effective.

  4. I completley agree with you on using a blog within in a classroom and it not being so effective. Just like you I also learned that it would be so great!
