3: Using my blog in the classroom.
At first the thought of using a blog in the classroom just did not seem practical. However, once i really thought about it and looked into it the clearer it became. First off a blog is an effective way of communicating and it avoids social networking sites. Furthermore, it can be used to show parents what their children are doing in class. I can share my thoughts with the parents. Do I think the class is ready to move on? Should I take a day to review? And I thought about this craft, what do you think? All which parents can see what their child is doing and how the teacher is aiding the process. My blog can also be used as reminders about homework, and projects. I can leave links to different websites students or parents can access to add to the in class instruction. Lastly, having a blog in a classroom can allow me to see what other educators are doing, by viewing commentary on what other teachers are doing and what they suggest. Using a blog may not be so bad after all.
Thing 2
When I found out I had to keep a blog, I was frightened. I have never been much of a writer, and I am not completely sure of how everything is done. From the blogs I have seen in the past, they all had creative names. Usually for myself to be creative, I need time, and frankly I had to come up with name within minutes. My blog name is simple but has absolutely no uniqueness to it. Creating this blog was hard for me. I was so confused on what to do, and had to ask a peer. It was hard because I would miss a step, and then be lost trying to catch up. In this blog is my avatar. My avatar has similar characteristics that I do such as blue eyes and brown hair, but I don't feel as she resembles me. I am hoping as time goes on I will get better at this.
Thing One
Looking through the the different habits some of them were very familiar to me they. The one I see myself struggling with the most though is having confidence in myself as a competent learner. I am afraid to make mistakes and make a fool of myself. It goes beyond the classroom. Things like learning to play the guitar or learning a new method at work. However my strongest habit is accepting my own responsibility of learning. I pushed myself through high school, and now I am pushing myself through college. It does not mean I do it alone but i have guides along the way. The fact I make an effort to do better, and to push myself is who I am.
